Schema Markup for Real Estate Websites
The SEO work your competitors skip because it is invisible. Search engines read it even when visitors cannot.
Structured data is machine-readable markup that tells a search engine what a page is about instead of making it guess. For real estate sites it is unusually valuable, because listing pages are full of facts — price, address, bedrooms — that mean nothing to a crawler reading plain HTML.
What to publish, page by page
Your home and about pages should identify you with RealEstateAgent and LocalBusiness markup including name, address, phone, service area, and opening hours. Listing pages benefit from Residence or Product-style markup with address and geo-coordinates. FAQ pages can carry FAQPage markup, and every page should carry breadcrumb markup so search engines understand your site hierarchy.
What it actually changes
Structured data is not a direct ranking boost. It changes how your result appears — breadcrumbs instead of a raw URL, FAQ expanders, correct business details in the knowledge panel — and it strengthens the entity signals that local ranking depends on. Better appearance means a better click-through rate, and click-through rate does matter.
The mistakes that cause problems
Marking up content that is not visible on the page, publishing review markup for reviews you collected yourself and display nowhere, and inventing prices or availability that contradict the visible listing. Google treats these as spam, and the penalty removes rich results across the whole site rather than the one page.
Keep it in sync
Markup that says a home is available after it sold is worse than no markup. If listings come from a feed, the structured data must be generated from the same feed rather than maintained by hand.
Verify it
Use Google's Rich Results Test and the Search Console enhancement reports after any template change. Structured data breaks silently — nothing on the page looks wrong.
AgentsWise generates agent, listing, breadcrumb, and FAQ structured data from your live data automatically. Read real estate SEO tips or see the features.
